Moving In Mission

God gifts each one of us with the life that is best for us. Can you see the gift of God in your life at present?

The particular gift given of each group in religious life is called our charism. Charism means a gift freely and graciously given, a grace. In MGL, our charism is about sharing God’s love through the empowerment of the Holy Spirit. We want to express God’s intimate and personal love for each person through the way we relate and what we do and say. We know that the most potent sign of God’s love is Jesus crucified out of merciful love and that a simple, clear and pertinent proclamation of the gospel can open a person’s life to an extraordinary new perspective. When we experience or realise God’s intimate love for us it can change everything.

A life integrated with the gifts of the Spirit flows from our MGL charism. We know ourselves to be ordinary weak and wobbly human beings who desire to live fully alive in the power of the Holy Spirit. We know by experience that God uses our needy and trustful surrender to enable us to do anything God calls us to do. We try to use all the gifts of the Holy Spirit to pray, seek God’s will and minister to others. We have been taking this gift wherever God has been calling us: to Townsville, Port Pirie, Adelaide, Darwin and the Philippines among the more exotic places. We have been trying to share the vision of life that Pope Francis expresses so well:

“Jesus can bring all the young people of the Church together in a single dream, a great dream, a dream with a place for everyone. The dream for which Jesus gave his life on the cross, for which the Holy Spirit was poured out on the day of Pentecost and brought fire to the heart of every man and woman, to your heart and mine.” (Christus Vivit, 157)

God needs people who are completely open to whatever he calls us to. What God does with MGLs is just advertising for what he wants to do in every life. We are all meant to be surrendered to him, open to the power of the Spirit and full of God’s love so that this love overflows to others. Let’s run together in this gift of life given to us by God.
