3 Practices To Cultivate When You Are Discerning

These are my top three practices to cultivate when discerning.

  1. Pray - firstly and most importantly let God LOVE you, accept and believe in his love and fall in love with him! Talk to him daily, setting time aside, make it a habit through daily Eucharist, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, and scripture. The more we get to know God, the more clearly we will understand His call and plan for our lives.

  2. Get a Spiritual Mentor/Director - Try to find a Spiritual Director or someone who is into their faith, older and wiser to chat with regularly about your discernment. They will help guide your spiritual journey and enable you to grow in the life of virtue, grace and discernment.

  3. Be active – This might seem a little outrageous but try NOT to remain in a place of perpetual discernment. Often, we tend to ask God the question and wait around FOREVERE for the answer expecting that it just might drop right into our laps at some stage. Perhaps we are also waiting and wanting God to speak to us through an epic boom box speaker. Be active – contact the sisters, spend time with the sisters, ask questions, do a ‘come and see’ and respond to the stirrings of your heart.
