Pray with us

Discover the richness of prayer

“Prayer is nothing else than being on terms of friendship with God”

St Teresa of Avila

“As Missionaries of God’s Love Sisters, the Cross and Flame is the central symbol of our prayer.
On the cross we see the Father’s love incarnate in Jesus crucified, casting the fire of the Spirit into our hearts.
Our experience of Baptism in this Spirit permeates and shapes all aspects and expressions of our prayer:
liturgical, contemplative, and charismatic.”

MGL Missionary Prayer

Lord Jesus,

Send the fire of your Spirit into our hearts.
Inflame us with a deep hunger for prayer,
An enduring desire to do the Father's will,
A burning zeal to spread the Good News of the Kingdom,
And a thirst for the salvation of all men and women.

Draw us into the fire of love in your heart
So that, embracing your Cross,
We may be truly missionaries of your love
To all whom we meet.
Now and always.

Amen.

MGL Entrustment to Mary

Immaculate heart of Mary,

I entrust myself to you.
Draw me into the heart of Jesus, your Son.
Share with me the mystery of his Cross,
And the fire of his Spirit.

Gentle Mother,
Since Jesus gave me to you from the Cross,
I am yours.
Nurture me in his love,
And help me to pray.
Guide me in his Spirit,
And teach me his ways.

Pure and chaste virgin,
As I place my life in your hands,
Bring me closer to Jesus, your Son.
Make me obedient to the Father and humble of heart.
Have eyes of mercy on me in my weakness,
Protect me from the evil one,
And bring healing grace to my life.
So with your spirit of gratitude and praise
I may have your heart for the mission
To spread the Good News of God's Love,
Now and always.

Amen.

8 Days of Praise

A Holy Spirit octave in the Marian spirit of thanksgiving

The 8 days of praise is a prayer you can pray with us during the Pentecost Octave, or any time of year that you want to return to God in thanksgiving for 8 days

  • “And Mary said: “My soul magnifies the Lord, and my spirit rejoices in God my Savior, for he has looked with favor on the lowly state of his servant. Surely from now on all generations will call me blessed, for the Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name; indeed, his mercy is for those who fear him from generation to generation. He has shown strength with his arm; he has scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. He has brought down the powerful from their thrones and lifted up the lowly; he has filled the hungry with good things and sent the rich away empty. He has come to the aid of his child Israel, in remembrance of his mercy, according to the promise he made to our ancestors, to Abraham and to his descendants forever.” “

    (Luke 1:46-55)

O Lord, open my eyes to see You

O Lord, open my ears to hear You

O Lord, open my mind to know You

O Lord, open my heart that I might receive Your love

O Lord, open my lips and I shall praise Your name

(Take a moment to thank God for the gift/s you have received)

Gratitude is the healing balm for our dissatisfied souls. You want us to remember unceasingly who You are and what You’ve done for us. Grant O Lord that I may always return to You with joyful gratitude and thanksgiving. In the power of Your Spirit and the victory of Your Son, may I be with You forever.

  • “I thank you, LORD, with all my heart; you have heard the words of my mouth. In the presence of the angels I praise you. I bow down toward your holy temple. I give thanks to your name for your merciful love and your faithfulness. You have exalted your name over all. On the day I called, you answered me; you increased the strength of my soul. All earthʼs kings shall thank you, O LORD, when they hear the words of your mouth. They shall sing of the ways of the LORD, “How great is the glory of the LORD!” The LORD is high, yet he looks on the lowly, and the haughty he knows from afar. You give me life though I walk amid affliction; you stretch out your hand against the anger of my foes. With your right hand you save me; the LORD will accomplish this for me. O LORD, your merciful love is eternal; discard not the work of your hands.”

    (Psalm 138)

O Lord, open my eyes to see You

O Lord, open my ears to hear You

  • “If you return to him with all your heart and all your soul, behaving honestly towards him, then he will return to you and hide his face from you no longer. Consider how well he has treated you; loudly give him thanks. Bless the Lord of justice and extol the King of the ages… Thank the Lord as he deserves and bless the King of the ages, that your Temple may be rebuilt with joy within you; within you he may comfort every exile, and within you he may love all those who are distressed, for all generations to come.”

  • “But when the kindness and love of God our Saviour for humanity were revealed, it was not because of any upright actions we had done ourselves; it was for no reason except his own faithful love that he saved us, by means of the cleansing water of rebirth and renewal in the Holy Spirit which he has so generously poured over us through Jesus Christ our Saviour; so that, justified by his grace, we should become heirs in hope of eternal life. “

  • “I am continually thanking God about you, for the grace of God which you have been given in Christ Jesus; in him you have been richly endowed in every kind of utterance and knowledge; so firmly has witness to Christ taken root in you.

And so you are not lacking in any gift as you wait for our Lord Jesus Christ to be revealed; he will continue to give you strength till the very end, so that you will be irreproachable on the Day of our Lord Jesus Christ. You can rely on God, who has called you to be partners with his Son Jesus Christ our Lord.”

  • “This, then, is what I pray, kneeling before the Father, from whom every fatherhood, in heaven or on earth, takes its name. In the abundance of his glory may he, through his Spirit, enable you to grow firm in power with regard to your inner self, so that Christ may live in your hearts through faith, and then, planted in love and built on love, with all God's holy people you will have the strength to grasp the breadth and the length, the height and the depth; so that, knowing the love of Christ, which is beyond knowledge, you may be filled with the utter fullness of God. Glory be to him whose power, working in us, can do infinitely more than we can ask or imagine; glory be to him from generation to generation in the Church and in Christ Jesus for ever and ever. Amen.”

  • “Always be joyful, then, in the Lord; I repeat, be joyful. Let your good sense be obvious to everybody. The Lord is near. Never worry about anything; but tell God all your desires of every kind in prayer and petition shot through with gratitude, and the peace of God which is beyond our understanding will guard your hearts and your thoughts in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers, let your minds be filled with everything that is true, everything that is honourable, everything that is upright and pure, everything that we love and admire -- with whatever is good and praiseworthy. Keep doing everything you learnt from me and were told by me and have heard or seen me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.“
