Lessons from my four-year-old niece

mel and Beth 160Recently I spent a weekend with my sister and her family. My four-year-old niece was particularly anticipating my arrival. She had prepared my room and bed, complete with her favourite strawberry pillow, and when I arrived at the station, she firmly took my hand and told me, ‘you are coming in my car and you are coming to my house’

Unwrapping the Gift of St Ignatius

iggy 160

Today (July 31) is the feast of St Ignatius of Loyola. He is one of the ten saints that we as MGL Sisters take as our patrons. He has left some timeless gifts to the church, no doubt inspiring many people down through the ages to discover God in new and life-changing ways. Here are just four of them – note to reader - this blog is a little longer than usual, but St Ignatius has so much to offer us that I felt it necessary to share each one of these gifts with you…..

I really love board games! My sisters could testify that when we were growing up, I would often ask them to play games with me, but the problem was that for them they were more like bored games.

Year of Youth Team Update #3

NT 160x160Our team of sisters travelling around our country for the Year of Youth, together with a team of young people are now in the Northern Territory. Here is a recap of their adventures so far in the Top End....

One of my favourite things to eat is hot, fresh, crunchy, white bread with lashings of butter, even more so when it is dipped in some creamy pumpkin soup on a cold winters day. It has a way of warming my insides, and is for me, a simple experience of joy.

Berna books 1 160 x 160As winter continues to descend, what better thing to do on a cold winter's day than snuggle up on a comfy couch (in front of a fire if you can!) with a book and hot cuppa. Here are reading suggestions!

Bucket List Writing

mEL AND BUCKET 160 X 160 Most people I know have a bucket list! What is on yours, and how might it be connected to God's plans and dreams for you? In this week's blog, Mel reflects on hers.

vows renewaL 2018 160 X 160

Each year on the Feast of the Sacred Heart, we take the opportunity to privately renew our vows. For me, and I am sure for the other sisters, it is a beautiful opportunity to be renewed in consecration. It is a celebration of the life and love that living this way for Jesus brings. On this day, I recall the gift of the day of my Perpetual Vows. Here is the speech I made on the day; for me it is just as much true now as it was then.

I am sure you have many memories associated with amazing views – waterfalls, mountains, lakes, sunrises, oceans, beaches, rainforests, valleys, rock formations, rolling hills, bushy paths, Adoration…. Wait, did you say Adoration?? (or write it at least)!
