The Cross and Flame - Part 1

2020.24.The Cross and Flame Part 1 main blog image

I used to experience, one of two things when reflecting on the Cross. The first was experiencing nothing. The second, was not understanding why it had to be done that way, why Jesus had to die in such a horrific way. As God transformed my heart and mind in the area of the Cross. I came to understand the love that is in the Cross, that the Cross is pure love. I felt Jesus say to me, “if you were the only person on earth, I would have died on the Cross just for you”. That moment helped the head knowledge I had about the Cross, journey down to my heart. I understood, for the first time that the Cross wasn’t just a sign of gruesome horror, it was the expression of love.

Jesus died for each one of us. He died for every person who has walked the earth and every person who will be born in the future. He died for us all and for you personally. This realisation transformed my life. It allowed me to claim the freedom and truth that Jesus offers through the cross. Now as I reflect on the Cross, I am moved by the love Jesus invites me into each day. I am moved by how unworthy and broken I am. How desperately I need the healing and grace Jesus offers. Jesus came for you and me in our unworthiness, to save us, to set us free so that we could live in truth with Him.
