And a thirst for the salvation of all men and women

Most of us know the experience of what it is to be thirsty. When the thirst is extreme, there is a desperate urgency for it to be quenched. We know we are thirsty from the signals that our bodies give us. Our mouths and skin dry up, our fingers may swell, or we might feel light-headed. Perhaps we sense our heart beating a little faster, or experience muscle cramps. Our body is telling us that it is craving to be refreshed without delay.

In a similar way, our hearts also need life-giving refreshment, but often we can be a little less aware of the signs and symptoms of a thirsty heart. Perhaps some of these are a nagging dissatisfaction with something in our life, a struggle to forgive, a resentment that seems all encompassing or a lack of motivation to pray.

As Missionaries of God’s Love Sisters, we believe that our hearts can receive the life-giving refreshment they need through knowing Jesus and experiencing the gift of salvation that he brings. This is not a one-time only deal, for Jesus is the one who can quench our thirst again and again. As MGL Sisters, we experience a deep thirst to share this reality with all people, with a particular focus on young people, on the poor and marginalized, and on the unchurched. May Jesus be the one who quenches your thirst, leading you tot fullness of life.
