Art as an expression for prayer

2020.05.Art as an Expression of Prayer.mainblogimage2020.05.Art as an Expression of Prayer.mainblogimage2Painting is both fun and an expression of prayer. Using colour to re-create the beauty I see around me or make visible the pictures formed in my imagination is magic! It’s a participation in the creative power of God. Painting becomes contemplative when I use it to express what I’ve experienced in prayer. It’s a little bit like journaling in a visual way. Because it takes a while, it gives me the opportunity to reflect more deeply on what God is saying to me.

Check out these two images I painted - a picture of Jesus washing feet after pondering this scene in Scripture and placing myself in the story, and an indigenous interpretation of Mary and the child Jesus is based on a beautiful lady and a gorgeous baby I met last year in Wadeye, a remote Aboriginal community in the Northern Territory.

You might like tot spend some time gazing at them and seeing what God reveals to you - eiher that or get out your paint and create your own!
