Mission Snapshot #1: Conversation with a Cuppa

Recently Julie and I have been co-ordinating a new ministry in the Long-Stay Caravan Park.  Together with a team of MGL sisters and brothers we have committed ourselves to making new friendships with the residents through a weekly drop-in café where people from all kinds of backgrounds are invited to enjoy music, a cuppa and of course a chat.

As well as enjoying a cuppa, we want to help people express what is going on in their lives and to explore the basics of faith. Our presence reminds them and us that we are one family, called to embody God’s love to those who might be lonely, isolated and feel estranged from their own family. This is the slow work of God and does not happen overnight, so we hope and pray that the ministry continues to reach more residents.

Paul’s words express our attitude perfectly, as he says that this is impossible without Christ, and we need the same love, together with a common purpose and common mind in being there for each other (Phil 2:1-2.)
